Driving Quality and Efficiency: Open Standards and Middleware for Integrated Operations.

Vienna Airport is implementing ABIGAIL, a central middleware based on open standards such as IFC and bSDD, operated on-premise. The goal is an integrated platform covering all buildings and facilities across the landside and airside of the airport city. It will serve as a “cockpit” for energy and maintenance management, user services, and the continuous updating of building documentation. By integrating geoinformation services, a complete digital representation of the site is created, connecting all relevant data sources. All operational stakeholders are integrated into a single platform and aligned on a common information basis. This approach avoids dependency on proprietary systems while significantly increasing quality and efficiency in operations. The presentation will highlight concrete use cases – from energy optimization and maintenance to strategic data management – showing how middleware powered by open standards delivers value and drives digital transformation in operations.
