The Role of Education in Driving Digital Transformation: Empowering Smart Cities and Digital Twins

26. November 2024 17:35 - 17:55
BIM World MUNICH 2024
Congress Stage 2

Englisch

Description

BIM4SmartRegions – Digital Twins for Buildings and Cities presented by LOC and Runder Tisch GIS e.V.

As cities become smarter, they are transforming how we live, work, and interact with our surroundings. Smart cities use technology to make life more efficient, sustainable, and connected. At the core of this transformation is digital twin technology, creating virtual replicas of physical spaces to help city planners make informed decisions and manage resources effectively.
University campuses, mirroring the complexities of urban environments, are becoming ideal testing grounds for digital twin technology. Bentley Systems’ Campus Digital Twin Initiative equips universities with tools like the Bentley iTwin Experience, empowering students and researchers to model, simulate, and optimize campus operations like energy use and space management. Through real-world case studies, this session explores the impact of digital twins on city planning and sustainability, emphasizing the importance of industry-academia partnerships in preparing future professionals to utilize these technologies.

Monitoring the Progress of Concrete Pouring Activities with Knowledge Graph (KG)-Enhanced Computer

26. November 2024 17:15 - 17:35
BIM World MUNICH 2024
Congress Stage 2

Englisch

Description

BIM4SmartRegions – Digital Twins for Buildings and Cities presented by LOC and Runder Tisch GIS e.V.

Accurate progress tracking is crucial to minimize delays and waste in concrete pouring. Traditional Computer Vision (CV) struggles to integrate contextual data, limiting accuracy. This research presents a Knowledge Graph (KG)-enhanced CV method. Combining object detection with BIM data, it creates a KG representing spatial-temporal relationships between components and resources (e.g., mixer, bucket, hose, workers). Rule-based logic and Graph Neural Networks (GNN) analyze frames to identify pouring states and cycles. Experiments on ten samples from two sites show 80.3% accuracy (rule-based) and 89.2% (GNN). This KG-enhanced CV approach improves generalizability, offering valuable insights for construction performance, waste reduction, and sustainability.

26. November 2024 11:25 - 11:50
BIM World MUNICH 2024
CAFMWORLD Breakout Session

Englisch

Description

Are digital twins more than a buzz? How can digital twins realize more value from a building? How can you create a digital twin of a building quickly and easily using existing data?
dTwin is the digital twin solution for buildings by Nemetschek. It harmonizes and visualizes all your facility’s data in a digital twin that allows you to see and understand your asset and act to increase its value with smart, data-driven decisions. This session shows how dTwin connects BIM, point clouds and photogrammetry with IoT, CAFM and BMS to optimize building management.

Der Digitale Zwilling – Infrastruktur konsequent zu Ende denken.

27. November 2024 13:45 - 14:10
BIM World MUNICH 2024
Congress Stage 1

Deutsch

Description

How to create and leverage Digital Twins of Buildings – a very close Example

27. November 2024 14:30 - 14:55
BIM World MUNICH 2024
Congress Stage 3

Englisch

Description

Digital twins are common practice in many industries. They are also becoming an increasingly important topic in the building industry. But how difficult is it to build up such a digital twin of an existing building? And what value does this bring?
In this joint presentation, Nemetschek and Hexagon show how you can create a digital twin of a building in a short time, how you can connect it with real-time data from sensors and other solutions, and how you can use it to manage buildings more efficiently – on a real example that is very close to all listeners.

Mit Digitalen Zwillingen zu mehr Effizienz und Nachhaltigkeit bei Bestandsgebäuden

26. November 2024 15:15 - 15:40
BIM World MUNICH 2024
CAFMWORLD Congress Stage
