His research interests cover the fields of Building information modeling, Geometric design and analysis, Design automation, Construction process simulation and Pedestrian Dynamics. He published more than 200 peer-reviewed papers and won several awards, among them the Best Paper Awards of the ASCE Journal of Computing in Civil Engineering in 2009, the European Conference on Product and Process Modeling (ECPPM) in 2010, and the International Conference on Computing in Civil and Building Engineering (ICCCBE) in 2014.
Professor Borrmann acts as an Editorial Board Member of Advanced Engineering Informatics and the International Journal of 3-D Information Modeling. He is currently the Chair of the European Group of Intelligent Computing in Engineering (EG-ICE) and the Vice Chair of the German Association of Computing in Civil Engineering (GACCE). He is actively supporting the construction industry’s shift towards the adoption of advanced digital technology and acts as advisor for the German government concerning the broad introduction of Building Information Modeling in public construction projects. Related to this, he is pushing forward the international standardization activities of buildingSMART, in particular in the infrastructure domain.

Since 2009, Harald Professner has an active role within the core team of the Rhomberg Group. Mark joined Leica Geosystems in 2014 as EMEA BIM Solutions Manager and is focused on Leica’s BIM Field Trip solutions that link the digital office and construction site through 3D data.
Having previously managed a BIM department within a UK survey company for 5 years, he developed processes and procedures for capturing, generating and validating 3D model information. During this time Mark has delivered numerous survey to BIM projects, for companies such as Tata Steel, Laing O’Rourke and Atkins.

Reality Capture for the Building and Infrastructure Lifecycle
Matthias Koksch is an expert in reality capture. For the last 20 years he was deeply involved in the improvements of reality capture technologies. He was the co-founder and managing director of kubit. Kubit was a software developing company with a strong focus on Autodesk based reality capture solutions which was successfully acquired by FARO in 2015. He holds a degree in Surveying from Dresden University.

Michael Kießling, Dipl.-Ing (FH), 43, Mayor of the municipality Denklingen. Before Michael Kießling moved, he was engaged in different positions with the company Nemetschek AG.
The studied civil engineer wrote his diploma thesis on the Graphic Bill of Quantities and graduated an international MBA program in Zurich and Boston seven years ago.

In the 2013, his existing partners and himself founded the company di5 Tech, which is focused on the development of software for employing BIM data. He was present at the assignment and creation of the task to develop BIM-POINT software.
He has been actively involved in issues relating to BIM for the past six years. In cooperation with the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic, he has participated in the preparation of a program for the implementation of BIM in CR. Head of the BIM Transformation Department
A BIM expert of the first hour and acting for innovative international technology companies in several management roles for over 20 years. He is working with pioneering technology start-ups in the digital transformation of the building industry as well as with the “leaders” of the branch. He is also involved in the BITKOM, the Planen Bauen 4.0, the Bauen Digital Schweiz, the BIM Cluster Innovation extension. Moreover, he co-developed the first German BIM standards, the Austrian Standards Institute and was implemented in leading BIM platforms. Currently he holds the position as adjunct teaching professor at Technical University of Munich (TUM). His research in the field of computational engineering covers numerical simulation, high-performance computing, and interactive visualisation with special respect to multi-scale fluid flow applications in the GIS/BIM domain.

René Schumann is the International Operations Director of HOCHTIEF ViCon, a leading service provider and consultant for virtual construction and BIM with of-fices in Germany, Qatar, UK and India.
René started his career at HOCHTIEF in 1998 with a degree in Structural Engi-neering. He supported HOCHTIEF’s efforts to implement virtual construction techniques, which led to the establishment of HOCHTIEF ViCon in 2007. As Vi-Con’s Head of Operations from day one, he has advised clients throughout the industry. René is one of the original creators of the ViCon-Method, and the driv-ing force behind ViCon’s focus on pragmatism and client benefits.
In 2009 ViCon founded a subsidiary in Qatar, where René took on the responsi-bility of Managing Director. He has led the team to a prominent position in the Middle East and will continue his efforts on international markets in the position of International Operations Director.

Chief Strategy Officer
Sean Flaherty is Chief Strategy Officer of Nemetschek SE. With his profound knowledge of international markets and looking back on many years of experience in the software industry, he forms part of the Executive Board of Nemetschek SE.
In this function, he accounts for the overall Nemetschek Group strategy and its performance in the global architecture, engineering, construction and management markets. In addition, he is responsible for the group-wide M&A strategy, its technology development and PR industry establishment.
An innovator and proponent of computer aided design (CAD) software for more than 25 years, Sean is an industry veteran who has played an instrumental part in creating design software that works the way designers think, and he was a proponent of Building Information Modeling (BIM) before it became an industry trend.
Sean Flaherty started his career as a software engineer with Vectorworks in 1985. During his career, he took on more and more management-focused roles and was Vice President of Engineering when Vectorworks was acquired by Nemetschek in 2000. Following his post as Chief Technology Officer, he became CEO of Vectorworks in 2005 and was thus in charge of the strategic and operative management with the objective to further increase revenue, growth and market share. In November 2013, he was appointed to the Executive Board of the Nemetschek Group. Since April 2016 he is exclusively working as CSO of the Nemetschek Group. He holds a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Maryland.

Stefan Kaufmann studied architecture at the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Madrid and at the Technical University of Munich and worked for architecture and design offices in Munich and London.
- From 2003 to 2013 he was senior research associate at the Chair of Architectural Informatics at the Technical University of Munich. His research focus is on: Parametric Design, Computer Integrated Manufacturing and Building Information Modeling.

Thomas Leopoldseder, Dr.
Senior Consultant BIM
Dr. Thomas Leopoldseder works as an international BIM Consultant and Product Manager of TIM (Technical Information Manager) at Precast Software Engineering in Austria (Part of Nemetschek Group) which is developing high-end CAD and BIM solutions for the precast industry. After his degree at the Vienna University of Economics and Business, he first worked as an IT-Consultant and then at various levels (CFO, General Manager) in the precast industry. He is now one of the leading experts in BIM solutions concerning the precast industry.
Schäfer is a civil engineer and has gained more than 9 years of experience in the construction industry, working for a large German construction company as a project manager and training constructional engineers at German Armed Forces before joining Newforma. He has comprehensive expertise in multidisciplinary project management, quality management and BIM.

Tobias Schmidt is a specialist for BIM strategies, technologies and BIM execution. He is Senior Consultant at TÜV SÜD for Lifecycle Digitalization merging BIM, CAFM and M2M. Before, Tobias Schmidt was Head of Building Information Modeling at Caverion. As Business Unit Director within BPS International, he developed the award winning “BIM it!” general planner team and invented digital innovations, like a realtime sensor-integrated BIModel to automate the facility management.
Tomas is CEO at Bim-Point.com, a new start up project. Bim.Point is web-based online tool for BIM data management throughout the building lifecycle.
Tomas has been participating in civil engineering projects since 1995 mainly as a head project engineer and structural engineer. After graduating from Czech Technical University in Prague in 1996 he has joined the architectural and designing company di5 architects and engineers as a partner. He works there now at the position of BIM strategy manager. As a member of board of directors, he is in charge of the technical development, project supervision and operation of IT.
Throughout his career he is concerned with the using of IT in the process of project designing works and finding optimal utilization of various software tools. The new issue of BIM is only logical continuation of these activities.
Over the past few years, he has gained experience in projects preparing BIM data for operation of the buildings and linking BIM data with CAFM systems. Tomas is a member of The Czech Chamber of Chartered Engineers and Technicians and Czech BIM council CzBIM.

Since 2004 Uwe Stilla is Professor for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing at Technical University of Munich. He is the President of the German Society of Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing and Geoinformation (DGPF) and the Chair of the ISPRS Working Group II/III “Pattern Analysis in Remote Sensing”. His publication list shows more than 400 entries.

Mr. Wassermann holds a diploma degree Structural/Civil Engineering from University for Applied Sciences in Munich. After starting his career in the area of structural engineering, he decided in 1988, to move into the software industry for AEC.

Wolfgang Hass is a senior executive and visionary with over 30 years of experience in innovation management and hands on development in a broad scale of automation technologies including energy efficiency and conservation
as well as hard and software for a variety of professional applications. In his current role as Senior Program Manager BIM Wolfgang Hass is guiding all strategic global technology developments on building efficiency and sustainability.
Prior to his current position Mr. Hass held a variety of management positions and executive functions of increasing responsibility and expertise within Siemens and other technology companies.
A well respected and sought after speaker on energy efficiency topics, Wolfgang earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Automation Technology from the Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences.

Wolfgang Walcher, Dr.
Founder & CEO
Dr. Walcher holds a PhD from TU-Graz, Austria and is a leading geo-spatial innovator and domain expert. He launched city-scenes.com (1997) and built a global 3D city modeling business (2000). He was partly funded by the US Navy and initiated the sale of his employer Vexcel to Microsoft (2006). There, in charge of the imagery budget, he created the world’s largest aerial program and other strategic partnerships. Dr. Walcher left Microsoft at the end of 2015 and has since started 4 companies.
